Vetra grew up singing in her parent’s famous Lithuanian folk group “Kūlgrinda”. She recorded 8 albums with the band which also feature her solo songs. Vetra travelled across the globe singing with “Kūlgrinda”, performing in the USA, South Korea, India, England, Norway, Latvia, Poland, Belarus and participated in countless music festivals and art projects in Lithuania.
Training by classical and jazz vocal coaches and completing an acting course in Dublin’s famous Gaiety school of acting have expanded her versatile capabilities to create a highly desirable singer and performer. So desirable, in fact, that she was chosen to sing an enchanting funeral song in an old Norse language on the world famous TV show “Vikings”, ranking 4.6 million viewers worldwide.
Throughout her music career Vetra has been involved in various music and art projects including performing with Irish folk metal band Cruachan, singing French chanson & jazz/pop standards with duos and bands, collaborating with electronic music band Diosco Na Mbo to mention a few.
It is not only Vetra’s angelic voice and versatility that turns heads but also the unique Lithuanian traditional instrument that she plays so well – the Kankles, a multi-stringed traditional harp-type instrument. Having studied the instrument since she was 7, she mesmerizes crowds by singing and playing this instrument at the same time, performing traditional music, old-time classic and modern music covers, as well as her own original compositions.
Over the past 7 years Vetra has been an active part of Dublin’s music scene, wowing the Irish crowd by appearing on a TV music competition “Busker Abu”. The judges fell in love with her singing and playing abilities, which led her to reach the show’s semifinal. Her success on Irish television became a viral news-story across Lithuania.
These days you can find Vetra busking around Dublin on the famous busy Grafton street or chilled-out Howth harbor, while she’s focusing all her attention on composing new music which she can’t wait to share with the world!
