About me

Vėtra is a Lithuanian singer-songwriter based in Dublin.

Born into a unique family that played a critical part in reviving traditional Lithuanian music, Vėtra spent her early years touring worldwide from India to the United States as part of the ritual folk group Kulgrinda. Although immersed since birth in the music of her Baltic roots, she was just as fascinated by the songwriting and sounds of mainstream music.

Since coming to Ireland a decade ago she has been an active part of the music scene. Once a familiar busker on Grafton street, her journey has since brought her to the stages of Electric Picnic, Tradfest and All Together Now and her unique music has brought her invitations to collaborate with acts such as Cruachan and TAU. When she appeared on-screen on the series Vikings singing an ancient Norse funeral song, Vetra’s haunting voice reached its biggest audience yet of over 4.6 million people.

Her solo songwriting expands beyond her musical origins, evoking the glittering classics of Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell. But at the heart of her sound is the kanklės, the traditional Lithuanian stringed instrument she has played professionally for over 25 years, and ever-present in her darkly seductive compositions is the mystery of the ritual music written deep in her soul.

Recorded at La Briche studios in France with producer Sean Mulrooney, her single ‘FIRE’ is set for release summer 2026.

 

Vetra is currently working on her debut EP which will be released at the end of 2026.
